Whether you’re on a path to spiritual transformation or you feel you have a lot of thoughts in your head that you would like to get out, writing in a Journal can be a huge benefit. The benefits far outweigh the disadvantages. A couple of advantages are; a deeper connection with self and it opens space for spiritual transformation to take place. If you combined meditation with journaling, that can be even more advantageous.

Once you start writing you tend to get into a flow and connect deeper on a conscious and subconscious level with yourself and divine energy. In the beginning when you first start your writing in a Journal, your mind may go blank. Simply close your eyes and take a few slow deep breaths and allow the energy to come forward, then start writing whatever comes to your mind. Do not be hard on yourself. If all you can think about and write about is your daily activities, that’s okay. The more you practice this activity the easier it is to allow the energy to flow through you and get everything out of your head onto paper. If you are a person who has trouble sleeping this may help. Getting all your thoughts, troubles, and worries out of your head and onto paper can simply allow your mind to relax and rest easier at night. On the flip side, you may be a natural writer, and words may simply flow out and on to the paper.

Choosing a Journal

When it comes to choosing a journal, take your time and find one that you really connect with. Do a quick search here for journals, there are many different kind, we’re sure you will find one that you love. Whether it has an inspirational saying, an image, or plain, it really does not matter. What matters is you find one that fits you. Now you may choose to use a word document from your computer as your journal. You could even use the notepad on your phone. If you do not want to keep a journal with you at all times, so if you have spare time to write on a lunch break or while waiting for a meeting or appointment, then your phone can be the perfect option. There is no right or wrong way to journal. The most important thing is just to take the time to get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper and do it consistently. If you choose to use your computer or your phone you may want to print out your notes and then Put them in a physical journal so that you can look back and read them. A good idea when you start writing is to write the date and time at the top of the page for future reference. Then when you are 5 years in the future, and you look back on your journal you know the exact date and time that you wrote the passage. If you prefer to use pen or pencil an actually write everything out , then you will want to find a pen or pencil that is really comfortable for you.

Finding Time To Journal

These days our lives are remarkably busy and many of us do not have time or we simply do not take time for quiet time. Even if you choose 15 minutes in the morning or 15 minutes before you go to bed to journal and meditate, this could help to increase your connection with self and spirit. If you choose the morning to do your writing you may want to journal your dreams. Our dreams can tell us our emotional state, they can give us warnings of things to look for, clues, and other information. As you journal your dreams you may see a repetitive theme about them, and this can help you become aware of certain aspects of your life that may need attention. If you decide to dedicate a time in the evening to journal, in the beginning it may be easier to write about the different emotions, feelings, and activities that have happened throughout your day. This can do a couple things: get all your thoughts out of your head and on to paper before bed and secondly it can help you to get the flow of writing going. And like stated before, it can help you fall asleep better if you tend to lay in the bed thinking about all the daily happenings.
